The long awaited Verdugo Hills Golf Course Draft EIR has been posted to the City Planning Department website. During the next two months, May 21 - July 20, 2009 - the community will examine and assess the thoroughness of this draft document. Bottomline: How well does it address potential negative environmental concerns?
To help community members respond to the Draft EIR Glendale-Crescenta VOICE, the Sunland-Tujunga Alliance and the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council have partnered with the Planning and Conservation League Foundation to present a CEQA workshop on June 7.
The workshop will go over the fundamentals of the California Environmental Quality Act, and use the Verdugo Hills Golf Course project, including the Draft EIR, as an example of the EIR process.
The workshop is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. The workshop flyer is below.
In addition the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council and City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel will be scheduling a meeting to help introduce the Draft EIR to the community. For updates visit the offical website:

The PCLF workshop is designed to educate community members about
the California Environmental Quality Act. By better understanding the environmental review process residents and local
organizations can be more effective in determining the future of their community and how it impacts quality of life.
The Verdugo Hills Golf Course project, including the Draft EIR, will be used as an example of the EIR process. The

Note: The price of the workshop is $35.00, but VOICE has four "scholarships" remaining for members of the public who
would like to attend.
If you are interested in attending the workshop, please email Marc Stirdivant to let him know. He will put you on the list for a scholarship.
Please be aware, if you receive a scholarship, you must also be willing to read a section of the Draft EIR and provide
written comments on that section. The goal is to have the workshop provide us with at least 30 trained responders who will be able to effectively comment on the Draft EIR. Please email Marc ASAP and let him know if you would like to take advantage of a scholarship to the workshop.
