How to Get Involved

The historic Verdugo Hills Golf Course has been a priceless recreational resource in our region for nearly fifty years.  This family-friendly course is one of the most inexpensive in the area and the perfect course for children to learn to play the game. Moreover, it continues to serve as important open space in the Verdugo Mountains, as more than half of the 63 acre site is undeveloped hillsides.  But now, a developer wants to put 229 houses on the property, destroy the golf course forever, and inflict numerous negative impacts on the community including increased traffic, reduced air quality, loss of recreation, loss of viewshed, loss of biological resources, as well as increased impacts on schools.

Working with the Verdugo Hills Golf Course Committee, V.O.I.C.E. is leading the fight to preserve the golf course as recreational open space.  CLICK HERE to go to the Golf Course page for more information.

Get Informed

This web site is a good place to start. There is a wealth of information about the Verdugo Hills Golf Course on the Golf Course page under CURRENT PROJECTS.  There is also information about the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) on our CEQA page.

Another simple link for information on the golf course is www.savethegolfcourse.org

There are several local papers covering the golf course issue.  They include the Glendale News-Press, the Crescenta Valley Sun, and the North Valley Reporter.  The Los Angeles Times and the Daily News also provide occasional coverage.  Subscribing to your local paper is a good way to stay informed.

Another great way to stay informed is to sign up for our Electronic Bulletin.  Just click on the link to the left, fill out the form, and we will keep you posted on all important  information relating to the golf course and other open space issues in our region.

Write to the Local Press

Writing to the local press is an important way to share your views with the entire community. Because these are  local papers, your letter won't get buried in a stack of mail that never gets looked at. Here’s how to reach them:

             Glendale News-Press        gnp@latimes.org

             Crescenta Valley Sun          cveditorial@valleysun.net

             North Valley Reporter           InformNVR@aol.com

Also write to:

             Los Angeles Times             letters@latimes.com

             Daily News                            dnforum@dailynews.com

Be sure to include your full name, hometown and phone number in your correspondence.
